Xiaomi Unveils Cutting-Edge Automotive Technologies and Introduces Xiaomi SU7 EV to Complete the Human x Car x Home Smart Ecosystem

In a significant move towards redefining automotive technology, Xiaomi unveiled its five core technologies for Xiaomi EV – E-Motor, Battery, Xiaomi Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin, during the Xiaomi EV Technology Launch. This event also showcased the highly anticipated Xiaomi SU7, an advanced full-size high-performance eco-technology sedan poised to redefine automotive excellence in design, performance, range, and safety.

Lei Jun, the founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group, marked this pivotal moment by quoting a Chinese poem, signifying the brand’s ambition to push boundaries. He emphasized Xiaomi’s foray into the automotive sector as a strategic step toward closing the loop in their Human x Car x Home smart ecosystem, aiming to become one of the top five global automakers within the next 15 to 20 years.

Revolutionizing Automotive Technology

Smart electric vehicles are evolving towards an integration of automotive, consumer electronics, and intelligent ecosystems. Xiaomi EV aims to redefine the automotive industry by merging industrial manufacturing, smart software, and AI, marking a significant technological leap.

With over 10 billion CNY invested in research and development, Xiaomi EV’s team of over 3,400 engineers has made groundbreaking advancements in five core technologies. These include the E-Motor, Battery, Xiaomi Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin, showcasing Xiaomi’s 13-year technological journey.

E-Motor Innovation

Xiaomi unveiled the HyperEngine V6/V6s and HyperEngine V8s E-motors, featuring state-of-the-art technologies like Bidirectional Full Oil Cooling Technology and unique design elements that rival traditional large V8 and V6 powertrains. HyperEngine V8s, setting a global record for E-motors, boasts a maximum speed of 27,200 rpm, 425kW output, and 635N·m peak torque, achieving unprecedented performance benchmarks. These advancements are set to be implemented in Xiaomi EVs by 2025.

Cutting-Edge Battery Technology

Xiaomi’s CTB Integrated Battery Technology employs innovative Inverted Cell Technology, enabling an exceptional battery integration efficiency of 77.8%, highest globally for CTB batteries. The battery boasts a maximum capacity of up to 150 kWh, offering a theoretical CLTC recharge range exceeding 1200 km. The company has also focused on industry-leading safety measures, ensuring stability, robust physical protection, and an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) with ASIL-D functional safety level.

Pioneering Die-Casting and Autonomous Driving

In the realm of die-casting, Xiaomi introduced Xiaomi Die-Casting T9100 and Xiaomi Titans Metal, pioneering large-scale die-casting and materials simultaneously. The T9100 cluster facilitates significant weight reduction and streamlined production, while the Titans Metal ensures high-strength and resilience in die-casting materials.

Xiaomi’s Pilot Autonomous Driving showcases Adaptive BEV Technology, Road-Mapping Foundational Model, and Super-Res Occupancy Network Technology, pioneering adaptive perception, intelligent navigation, and precise obstacle recognition, with advanced hardware configurations and top-tier sensing capabilities.

Innovative Smart Cabin Experience

Xiaomi EV Smart Cabin offers a human-centric interaction architecture, integrating a suite of advanced screens and the Snapdragon 8295 in-car chip for seamless connectivity and an interactive experience. This setup supports over 1000 Xiaomi smart home devices, creating a comprehensive CarIoT ecosystem and offering a unique mobile smart space experience.

Setting New Performance Standards with Xiaomi SU7

Positioned as a full-size high-performance eco-technology sedan, Xiaomi SU7 incorporates cutting-edge technology, including the HyperEngine E-motor, CTB Integrated Battery, and Xiaomi Die-Casting innovations. Achieving impressive acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 2.78 seconds and a top speed of 265 km/h, Xiaomi SU7 positions itself as a high-performance vehicle within the “sub-2-second supercar” category.

Completing the Human x Car x Home Smart Ecosystem

Lei Jun highlighted Xiaomi’s strategic transition from “Smartphone x AIoT” to the “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem, with Xiaomi EV as an integral part. This ecosystem aims to integrate human-centric intelligence, seamless device connectivity, and AI-driven solutions, empowering users across various scenarios.

Xiaomi’s entry into the automotive industry signifies a milestone in technological innovation, emphasizing continuous R&D efforts, and collaborative partnerships.
