Tesla Thailand started accepting online reservations for the Model 3 and Model Y from the 7th of December 2022. Tesla aims to start delivery of the vehicles by Q1 2023.
Tesla launches in Thailand
The launch of these two EVs with prices ranging between 1.7 million baht to 2.5 million baht ($48,447 to $71,205) comes as Thailand makes a push for EV adoption and production by offering tax cuts and subsidies. These prices are significantly cheaper compared to Tesla’s that were previously brought in and sold from other markets like Hong Kong and Japan. Those “gray market” cars was were sold at prices as high as 3 million baht, and ran the risk of not having official support in the country. Now that Tesla has officially entered the Thai market, there are no more worries about post sales support, and there are many EV enthusiasts that have rushed to place their orders. In just 5 days since the launch, more than 5000 bookings have been received by Tesla.

Under the Thai government subsidy scheme:
EVs with a retail price of up to THB 2 million (approx. USD 60,600) will be entitled to 40% reduction of customs duty. If the applicable customs duty is already 40% or less due to reduction under a free trade agreement (FTA), the EVs will be exempt from customs duty.
