Nissan Paving Its Way Into Thailand EV Market Through EV Leasing Companies

Nissan in Thailand had just successfully delivered 40 Nissan LEAF vehicles to EVME PLUS (EVme), making it the largest ever Nissan EV fleet delivery in Thailand to date.

Suvicha Sudchai, CEO & MD, EVME PLUS Co., Ltd. said “The Nissan LEAF is one of the first models in our EV fleet. We are also proud to be part of the action to minimize environmental issues sustainably and enhance the EV ecosystem in Thailand through our digital platform that will allow consumers to experience various EVs that we offer. Customers can now download EVme mobile application from Apple App Store or Google Play, simply book an EV, and experience an EV of their dreams the next day,”

EVme, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PTT Public Co., Ltd., is a newly launched lease-to-own service for electric vehicles in Thailand that aims to offer consumers seamless EV lifestyle experience with full integration with a mobile application platform. EVme also offers EVs from other manufacturers which include Lexus, Tesla, Hyundai just to name a few.

Prior to that, Nissan handed over the first batch of Nissan LEAF vehicles to Phatra Leasing in an event held at Nissan Electrification Experience Center located in Samut Prakan, Thailand. According to Phiphob Kunasol, Managing Director of Phatra Leasing Public Company LimitedPhatra Leasing offers a new and simple electric vehicles experience through its leasing service which ranges from a 1-year short term or a long 5-year leasing options. Apart from electric vehicles, Phatra Leasing also offers a wide variety of non-EV vehicles to its customers. Isao Sekiguchi, president of Nissan Thailand said “Nissan is very proud that Phatra Leasing selected the Nissan LEAF for its business operations. The collaboration underlines our commitment to the Nissan Ambition 2030, the company’s new long-term vision that aims to deliver superior value by empowering journeys and society through electrified vehicles and introduces zero-emission driving experience with the Nissan LEAF, 100% electric vehicle”. The second generation Nissan LEAF that was launched in 2018 has a driving range of 311KM (NEDC standards). Nissan claims that it is 60% more efficient than the first generation. With 320Nm of torque, Nissan LEAF is able to sprint from 0 to 100km/h is 7.9 seconds. Through DC (direct current) charging, Nissan LEAF’s battery can be charged from 0 to 80% capacity in just 40 minutes and it comes equipped with two-way charging capability where it can feed energy back to the grid. In Thailand, Nissan LEAF owners enjoy 5-year (or 100,000 km) warranty on its EV system and 8-year (or 160,000km) warranty on the battery.
