The 17th Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) is Asia’s leading platform for
energy professionals, policymakers and commentators to share best practices and
solutions within the global energy space. Themed “A Connected and Sustainable
Energy World”, SIEW 2024 is organised by the Energy Market Authority of Singapore
and will take place from 21 to 25 October 2024 at the Sands Expo and Convention
Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
The event will convene key discussions for achieving sustainability and security in the
energy sector. Discussions will include growth opportunities in clean energy
technologies and the vital roles of low-carbon technologies, transition finance, and
energy market innovation that can pave the way towards a decarbonised energy
future.
The Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) is an official trademarked event by the Energy Market Authority (EMA). It is an annual platform for energy professionals, policymakers and commentators to discuss and share best practices and solutions within the global energy space. The 17th edition of SIEW will be held from the 21–25 October 2024 in Singapore.
First held in 2008, SIEW is organised by the Singapore Energy Market Authority (EMA), a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Their main goals are to ensure a reliable and secure energy supply, promote effective competition in the energy market and develop a dynamic energy sector in Singapore.
EMA’s anchor event, the SIEW Summit will feature high-level keynotes and panel discussions around this year’s theme “A Connected and Sustainable Energy World”. Other key events include the Singapore-IEA Ministerial Forum, Singapore-IRENA High-Level Forum, SIEW Energy Insights, SIEW TechTable and SIEW Thinktank Roundtables. SIEW partner events, including the Asia Clean Energy Summit, Asian Downstream Summit & Asian Refining Technology Conference, Asia Gas Markets Conference, and Future of the Grid, provide an opportunity to focus in on industry-specific topics.
Attendees to the 17th Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2024 can look forward to discussions on enabling the energy transition through innovation and ideas, to regional and global collaboration, and more viable green financing. Mr Ngiam Shih Chun, Chief Executive of the Energy Market Authority of Singapore (EMA), unveiled the theme for SIEW 2024 — “A Connected and Sustainable Energy World”— at the SIEWConnects@Siemens Energy held in the Conrad Singapore Orchard on 12 April 2024.
Speaking to over 330 guests, Mr Ngiam highlighted two high level forums held as part of SIEW2024 programme.
The Singapore-IEA Ministerial Forum, jointly organised by Singapore and the International Energy Agency (IEA), will connect global and regional leaders to discuss the opportunities and challenges in Asia Pacific’s decarbonisation journey. The International Energy Agency (IEA) will also open its first regional centre here in Singapore later this year.
The 4th Singapore-International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) High-Level Forum will continue the discussion on ways to triple renewable energy deployments across the world, particularly within Southeast Asia by 2030.
In conjunction with SIEW, SP Group will also host the 25th edition of the Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and Western Pacific (AESIEAP) CEO Conference from 21 to 23 October 2024 to discuss the theme of “Empowering the Energy Transition”. Held biennially, the AESIEAP CEO Conference is a by-invitation meeting to engage the industry’s top executives from over 60 member companies.
Mr Ngiam ended his address by emphasising that “strengthening regional connections, enabling seamless cross-border power trade, and expanding green financing, are essential for accelerating the energy transition. Deepening global cooperation through joint investments in low-carbon technologies and research will drive innovation and help us achieve “A Connected and Sustainable Energy World.”
The Energy Market Authority (EMA) is a statutory board under the Singapore Ministry of Trade and
Industry. Through our work, they seek to build a clean energy future that is resilient, sustainable,
and competitive. They aim to ensure a reliable and secure energy supply, promote effective
competition in the energy market and develop a dynamic energy sector in Singapore.
