The ID.7 model boasts a brand new and highly efficient drive generation, making it the first MEB model to do so. Equipped with a powerful electric drive motor, the ID.7 delivers 210 kW (286 PS), making it the most potent and highest-torque electric drive motor in any Volkswagen ID. model to date. Developed in conjunction with Volkswagen Group Components in Kassel, Germany, the power unit – with the internal designation APP550 – is also produced there.

The new electric drive was primarily optimized to enhance energy consumption, and it is projected that WLTP ranges of up to 700 kilometres and charging capacities of up to approximately 200 kW can be achieved, depending on the battery sizes. This makes the ID.7 an excellent choice for long-distance travel, particularly for frequent drivers and fleet customers. The vehicle is nearly five metres long and was designed based on aerodynamic principles, featuring a roof that slopes elegantly to the rear in a coupe style to achieve a drag coefficient of approximately 0.23, depending on the vehicle equipment. The long wheelbase and short overhangs provide ample space in the vehicle interior for all occupants.

With the ID.7 we are taking the next step in our electric offensive. The limousine offers a high level of comfort and long ranges. Already by 2026, we will offer the widest electric range of all manufacturers in Europe – from the entry-level model for less than 25,000 euros up to the ID.7 as the new top model within the ID. family. Our goal is to achieve an electric car share of 80 per cent in Europe by 2030. As from 2033, Volkswagen will produce only electric vehicles in Europe.
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars

The ID.7 is the first Volkswagen to feature a new operating and display concept, along with exclusive equipment options. Volkswagen has responded to customer feedback by improving the operating experience in essential areas. The standard features include a 38-centimetre (15-inch) infotainment system screen, an augmented reality head-up display, a new air conditioning operating concept integrated on the top level of the infotainment system, as well as freely assignable favourites buttons and a backlit touch slider.

In addition to these features, the ID.7 offers exclusive equipment options, such as massage seats and an electronically dimmable panoramic sunroof, typically found only in higher classes of premium competitors. The new panoramic sunroof features smart glass that can be switched between opaque and transparent settings by touch control, and it can also be operated using natural voice commands through the new IDA voice assistant, along with other functions in the ID.7. The optional front seats offer adaptive seat Climatronic – with cooling or heating, as required, and also a drying function. Furthermore, a massage function with a seal of approval from the German Campaign for Healthier Backs (AGR) is available. The range of options is completed by a 700-watt sound system from Harman Kardon, featuring 14 high-end loudspeakers, including a centre speaker at the front and a subwoofer in the luggage compartment, delivering an impressive sound experience with the new Volkswagen limousine.
