The 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition is scheduled to be held from April 18 to 27, being held at The National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).
The exhibition, also known as Auto Shanghai 2023, is the first A-class international auto-show to be held in China since the country lifted their Covid restrictions. Over 1,000 corporations from all over the world have registered to participate in the auto show, including numerous EV brands.

Auto Shanghai 2023 EV highlights
Geely has recently launched the Zeekr X electric hatchback in China, equipped with a 66-kWh battery, offering up to 428 horsepower. The vehicle comes starts with a surprisingly affordable price tag of 189,800 RMB (27,600 USD) for the base model, increasing to 245,800 RMB (35,700 USD) for the top of the range model. The X offers two different electric motor options. The first one features a 200-kW (272 hp) electric motor mounted on the rear axle and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. The second option comes with two e-motors delivering a combined power output of 315 kW (428 hp) and boasts a zero-to-hundred acceleration time of 3.7 seconds. The battery capacity is 66 kWh, and it utilizes ternary (NMC) technology. The RWD models provide a driving range of 560 km on the CLTC cycle, while the 4WD model can travel up to 512 km on a single charge. The Zeekr X will be presented at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show.
XPeng will debut its next production model, the XPeng G6, on the morning of April 18, with a live broadcast from 09:40 – 10:00 am Beijing time. The XPeng G6 is an SUV that is widely expected to compete with the Tesla Model Y in China.
The Volkswagen ID.7 is a new electric vehicle from Volkswagen and is the sixth EV in the company’s ID range. Due to be released by the end of 2023, the ID.7 boasts a WLTP range of 695km, 282bhp of power and a 0-100 km/h time of 6.0sec.
The BYD YangWang U9 is an electric sports coupé from China that is expected to rival the Audi R8. It comes with an electric motor powering each wheel to deliver a 0-100 km/h time in less than 2.0seconds!
Look out for Nio presenting their Nio ES6 Facelift model, which is the updated version of Nio’s popular electric SUV and will sit on the firm’s second-generation platform. It is expected to afford slight improvements in range and performance.
The Nissan Max-Out Concept is an electric two-seat drop-top that will make its Chinese debut at Auto Shanghai 2023. It is part of Nissan’s drive to develop sustainability and “innovative mobility”.
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is the first zero-emission, electric SUV from Maybach, the ultraluxury sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz. It is based on the Mercedes EQS SUV and is expected to be more powerful than the 580 4MATIC SUV.
The Polestar 4 is the latest release from Polestar, and is an electric SUV coupé that marries the aerodynamics of a coupé with the space of an SUV. It will be the fastest Polestar production car to date.
The Mini Cooper SE Convertible is the world’s first locally emission-free premium convertible in the small car segment. It will be presented to the public for the first time at Auto Shanghai 2023 and is available in a limited series of 999 vehicles.
